The Name…….Iaqua
The name is probably derived from the native salutation “How do you do?” a form of greeting. The present spelling was used in November 1864 when a detachment from Fort Humboldt went to Camp Iaqua. Iaqua was merged and remerged with Kneeland several times in the early 1900’s. 2nd Edition 2010, Place Names of Humboldt County, California
